Nantong Institute of Technology was established in 2000 and has two campuses located in Nantong and Haian, covering an area of 1,700 mu. The institute consists of 14 secondary schools and offers 57 undergraduate programs. It currently enrolls 27,000 full-time students and has nearly 1,400 full-time faculty members, including nationally and provincially recognized outstanding teachers. More than 90% of the faculty hold master's or doctoral degrees. The total value of the institute’s instruments and equipment exceeds 300 million yuan.
The institute boasts three national-level training bases and virtual simulation laboratories, as well as 13 provincial-level experimental bases, key laboratories, and research and development centers. It has two key disciplines designated under Jiangsu Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan, eight first-class majors, three provincial brand majors, three majors recognized for integration of industry and education, one professional program under Jiangsu Province’s Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program 2.0, and one provincial-level key base for industry-education integration. Additionally, it offers multiple first-class courses in Jiangsu Province. Since 2019, students have won over 14,000 awards in city-level or higher academic competitions. In 2024, the institute ranked 179th among 1,300 regular undergraduate universities nationwide based on the college student competition index. The number of graduates passing postgraduate entrance exams ranks among the top in similar institutions, and the employment placement rate of graduates has consistently exceeded the provincial average for undergraduate universities.
